1996 ASID Designer's Showhouse at The Royal Palms
Phoenix, Arizona...ASID Designer's Showhouse
Casita 118 "...with walls faux-finished in tones of smoke and umber..."
Casita 111 "...Richly painted walls, colored as if decades of smoke and sunlight had mellowed them, are enhanced by a faded fresco that defines the fireplace opening..."
Preserving the past while renewing a Phoenix landmark
Presented by the Phoenix Symphony Auxiliary and Phoenix Magazine...The ASID Designer's Showhouse is their major fund-raiser of the year.
What was once a private residence grew into the Royal Palms Inn, a popular resort nestled in a citrus grove at the base of Camelback Mountain.
Under new ownership and after a multi-million dollar renovation the hotel re-opens as the Royal Palms and Casitas...to kick off the re-opening, the hotel was selected as the site for the 1996 American Society of Interior Designers Showhouse...one of the first showhouses to ever be done at a hotel.
Above are photos of the two casitas I was involved in creating...I contributed the decorative finishes, custom stenciling and decorative accessories.
